Meet Jenna Burne from Jenna Burne Art Journaling

Jenna’s mission is to help people encounter God through mixed media art journaling. She teaches at retreat centres, in schools, churches, festivals and events and also online through Youtube and her online course, Wild Art, Deep Faith. She has been journaling her faith for over a decade having discovered that the process of art journaling could become like a conversation with God. Jenna lives in the beautiful countryside of Stroud, UK with her husband and two daughters.

“Art journaling for me is spontaneous, fun, messy and, let’s face it, a little bit chaotic! Life can be chaotic too and I guess it’s a bit of a cliché that creative people are untidy (Moi?!!), surrounded by unfinished projects and found items that could one day become something beautiful. But when I look into the bible I see God appearing and working to create beauty in the midst of chaos all the time. In this session we will create a beautiful, textured, abstract landscape together while we ponder Genesis 1 v 2 and how, in God’s hands, chaos is a creative opportunity.”

Introduction

Jenna explains how when she first discovered art journaling she was worried about other spiritual influences, but it turns out God is bigger than all that! Jenna also tells how the gospel story is core to all her pages.

Main lesson- Creativity from Chaos

Let’s start by seeing what marks we can get on our page by blowing our paint around as we think about the wind-spirit of God. Then as we add more layers of journaling, collage and paint our page will evolve into an abstract landscape. We will finish by adding some words using letters from a magazine and a bit of sparkle.
